MfL (Modern Foreign Languages)

At Upton, our children learn Spanish. We aim for our students to be given opportunities to communicate for practical purposes, learn new ways of thinking and read great literature in the original language.  This enables them to build a foundation to learn further languages, equipping them to study and work in other countries.

Through our curriculum, we allow children to develop their listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and intercultural understanding.  All learning is mapped against the National Curriculum and the key skills can be found within the Spanish progression map for each year group.
